By the time the weekend rolls around, are the only plans that sound appealing to you staying in and watching a show? Yeah, me too. I used to get excited to dress up and stay out late, but I won’t lie to you: Those days are over. Instead, streaming what’s new is now my idea of a wild Saturday night. I’m even marking release dates in my calendar.
With all of the streaming services now, it can be hard to keep up with what to watch and where to watch it. But, this month, the lineups are so good that you will want to ensure you have a subscription to every platform—or at least your friends’ passwords. These shows and movies are about to be the sole topic of conversation in The Everygirl’s #watercooler Slack channel, and I’ll be damned if I miss out on that.
Cancel your plans and get comfortable because it’s time to hit “Play.” Without further ado, here are some of the most anticipated shows and movies that are new on streaming this month.
Netflix
Ginny & Georgia (Season 3)
The newest season of Netflix’s hit drama returns! After leaving us on a major cliffhanger at the end of season 2, we are ready to see the aftermath of the arrest of Georgia and the explosive drama that’s sure to come.
STRAW
This new thriller from director Tyler Perry stars Taraji P. Henson as a struggling single mother who is at her breaking point. After facing a series of unfortunate events, she then finds herself at the center of suspicion of a crime she didn’t commit. Talk about the last straw (pun intended).
AMERICA’S SWEETHEARTS: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (Season 2)
A new season of the docu-series following the iconic cheer squad drops this month with more drama, tears, and excitement than ever. Get ready to say, “I could do that,” one too many times while watching the professionals with years of training.
The Waterfront (Season 1)
The Waterfront is a new family drama that follows the Buckley family as their storied North Carolina fishing empire decays, and they grapple to revive their imperiled maritime heritage. It’s giving Outer Banks and Succession all rolled into one.
Squid Game (Season 3)
The final season of the hit K-drama series returns after a perilous season 2, where everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong. As we jump right back into the world of childhood games, I’m ready to see the system finally meet its deserved end (please?).
Peacock
Love Island USA (Season 7)
She’s baaaaaack!!! Our favorite summer show returns with a new group of sexy singles on a search for love in a beautiful Fiji villa. Throughout their stay in a tropical oasis, islanders will couple up to face brand new heart-racing challenges and bigger twists and turns than ever before.
Poker Face (Season 2)
This mystery-of-the-week series follows Natasha Lyonne’s Charlie Cale, who has an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying. She hits the road and, with every stop, encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can’t help but solve.
Apple TV+
Stick (Season 1)
Owen Wilson stars in this new comedy series as a pro-golfer whose career was derailed by an on-course meltdown. He decides to give everything he’s got to to mentor a young and upcoming golfer and maybe even rediscover himself in the process.
Echo Valley
Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney star as a mother-daughter duo in this new thriller. When Kate’s (Moore) troubled daughter (Sweeney) shows up at her front door frightened and covered in blood, Kate works to unravel the truth and learns just how far she’s willing to go for her daughter.
The Buccaneers (Season 2)
In the first season of The Buccaneers, a group of fun-loving young American girls exploded into the tightly corseted London of the 1870s, kicking off an Anglo-American culture clash. Now, the buccaneers are no longer the invaders—England is their home. We’re in for a whirlwind journey as the girls wrestle with romance, lust, and jealousy…themes all women can relate to, no matter what year it is.
Hulu
Call Her Alex
I fear you’ve been living under a rock if you haven’t heard of Alex Cooper and the “Daddy Gang.” This two-part docuseries follows Cooper on her first tour and tracks her rise to success from her popular sex and relationships podcast Call Her Daddy, one of the biggest in the business.
The Bear (Season 4)
Our favorite chef returns this month! In Season 3, Carmy transformed his struggling sandwich shop into a fine dining restaurant, and the show left us hanging in the finale as critics’ reviews were coming in and Carmy’s co-worker Sydney contemplated leaving for another offer.
Max
The Gilded Age (Season 3)
The period drama lovers will be fully satisfied this month with the return of The Gilded Age season 3. Season 2 ends with Mrs. Russell promising her daughter’s hand in marriage to the Duke of Buckingham, but it seems that Gladys is not too happy about the betrothal. Love, lies, and some seriously tight corsets are ahead.
Prime Video
Deep Cover
In this new action-comedy, Bryce Dallas Howard plays an improv comedy teacher who recruits two of her students (played by Orlando Bloom and Nick Mohammed) to infiltrate London’s gangs by pretending to be criminals. I know this show is going to seriously stress me out, but the laughs will make up for it.
We Were Liars
Based on the best-selling novel by E. Lockhart, this psychological thriller follows the wealthy Sinclair family and the events of summer on their private island. The drama that unfolds is only the beginning of this twisty and shocking story.
